Progresso´s panko bread crumbs review and giveaway!

Thanks to My Blog Spark and Progresso because they provided me with the free chicken broth and the Panko Bread crumbs, the information, and awesome prize pack to giveaway to my readers!

I was so excited when I got a chance to try out Panko Bread Crumbs! I went straight to Progressofoods.com and checked out all the neat new recipes and I decided to try my hand at my first go at homemade mashed potatoes....on Christmas day no less!

Michael Chiarello´s Mashed Potato Gratin was super easy to make (with the peeling and dicing help of my daughters!) and WAY YUMMY! Though my mashed potatoes don't look as good as the pic on the website! The Panko bread crumbs gave the mashed potatoes a great different texture and an extra boost of taste....there were none left by the end of lunch!

Press Release Thingy

If you´re looking for some helpful cooking tips and exciting new recipes, visit Progressofoods.com and Progressobroth.com for celebrity chef Michael Chiarello´s expertise on casual weekend entertaining, preparing a holiday feast or inspiration for a weeknight meal - all using Progresso panko bread crumbs and Progresso broth.

If you´ve never cooked with panko before, now is your chance because it´s never been easier. Progresso´s panko is a flaky bread crumb which adds a light crispiness to your food and is available in two flavors, plain and Italian.

Progresso broths are 100% natural and use high quality ingredients to achieve a great homemade taste. They are fat free, gluten free, contain no preservatives, no added MSG and no artificial flavors. Progresso broth is available in chicken and reduced sodium chicken and beef flavors.

Chef Michael Chiarello appears daily on the Food Network and can also be seen on Top Chef Masters. In addition, he runs and owns Bottega Restaurant in Napa Valley, CA. Below are just a few of Chef Chiarello´s tips to help you create quick, flavorful meals you and your family will enjoy.

Sample Panko Tips:
Breading 1-2-3: Panko adds the perfect light crunch to fish fillets, chicken breasts and pork chops. Dip in flour, then beaten egg and coat both sides in Panko before frying or baking
Go here for more tips!

Faux Fried:
Instead of frying, bake Panko-coated chicken in a 400F oven for 20 minutes to get the same crispy crunch without the fat

Sample Broth Tips:
Give New Life to Leftovers: Time in the fridge can steal moisture and flavor; drizzle a little broth over last night´s pasta or casserole before reheating

Better than H20:
Water adds moisture, not flavor; replace water with broth when you cook potatoes, rice and grains

Also available on ProgressoFoods.com is a coupon for $1.00*off any two Progresso products.

At ProgressoBroth.com you´ll find a coupon for $.50 off a package of broth. Feel free to share these coupons with your readers.

$1 off lower in sugar General Mills Cereal!

I recently was offered 4 free cereal coupons that were all provided by General Mills through MyBlogSpark.

And while I haven't used the coupons yet, I have already tried the new lower in sugar Trix as there was a sample box for .99 cents at my local Albertsons...which I haven't tried yet but if you go here, there's a $1 off coupon...so possibly a free sample box of cereal!... I didn't taste much of a difference, but that's just me :)

Press release type thingy!

This week General Mills announced a commitment to further reduce sugar in cereals advertised to kids under 12 to single digit grams of sugar per serving. The company has already been reducing sugar in cereals while increasing key nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D, and providing whole grain.

Did you know that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters? Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children’s diets.

Other cereal benefits:
Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children’s diets.

Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child’s diet today.

More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

Studies also demonstrate the benefits of eating breakfast. A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

Chef's Requested Foods 100 Calorie Portion Sized Steaks Review and Giveaway!!

I recently received the wonderful offer from Chef's Requested to try their 100 calorie portion sized steaks!

Now I was a lil leery at first, poked at the squishy three packet package with it's fist sized marinaded steaks.

But I got all Gorden Ramsey on them, grilled them up in a pan with a little olive oil and a little garlic (which it didn't need, but we're all garlic lovers in my house) and chowed down with a side of garlic mashed potatoes and a side salad.

These steaks are YUM and tender! And they were portioned perfectly, not only a healthy serving, but filling as well.

For the full low down on these yummy portioned steaks visit the Chef's Requested website here

ENDED Unilever Beauty Tip of the Day Giveaway From Rocket XL & me!

**Pixie the Kitty NOT Included**
ENDED

Thanks to Unilever and the great people over at Rocket XL I've got the nifty little widget down at the bottom of the screen! They've also sent me some nifty beauty products to try out!
To help boost awareness of Unilever products, especially the great money saving tips that can be had with their products I've compiled a short list.

Top 5 money saving beauty uses for Vaseline

Nail Polish:
Rub Vaseline on the skin around your nails before polishing. If you make a mistake it can be wiped off when your nails are dry and it softens cuticles at the same time.

Rough Feet:
Are your feet are hard, calloused and dry? Apply Vaseline to your feet at night after bathing or showering. Apply within the first three minutes of bathing before the moisture on your skin evaporates. Then pop on a pair of socks and wear to bed, you’ll wake up with softer feet! This can also work if you want softer hands you can use socks too, or if you come across a great pair of cheap cotton gloves that works even better!

Chapped Lips:
Apply as needed.

Perfume:
Lengthen the life of perfume by putting a little Vaseline on your pulse points, then spray on the perfume.

Eyebrows:
To smooth wild eyebrow hairs, rub a dab into your brows.

Top 5 money saving beauty uses for Q-tips

Emergency make up fix:
Keep Q-tips® cotton swabs in a plastic bag with a small amount of makeup remover. They're convenient and great to use for touch-ups throughout the day (runny mascara, smeared eye shadow, smudged lipstick, etc.).

Soothe Puffy eyes:
For a soothing pick-me-up, moisten Q-tips® cotton swabs with water, place in a plastic bag and keep in the freezer. When needed, roll under eyes to help diminish puffiness.

Whiten stained nails:
Dip a cotton swab in a mixture of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide, swab over fingernails and rinse after 3 minutes.

Nail polish clean up:
Remove excess nail polish off the sides of your nails or cuticles by dabbing a q-tip in polish remover.

Cleaner than a brush:
Inexpensive one use beauty tools, you can use a q-tip to apply eyeshadow or lipstick.

Harry Connick Jr Sings Your Songs :: One2One Network Review

From One2One press release:

Singer, actor, composer, pianist, philanthropist, husband, father – Harry Connick, Jr. is all those things wrapped up in one (handsome!) package.

Harry's been indulging his musical passion since the age of 3, and played publicly for the first time at the age of 6! His career has been studded with awards and recognition, including several multi-platinum and gold albums, 25 million albums sold worldwide, Grammy, Tony and Emmy Awards; Oscar and Golden Globe nominations, and so much more.

Album Tracklisting (Originally performed by):

All The Way (Frank Sinatra)
Just The Way You Are (Billy Joel)
Can’t Help Falling In Love With You (Elvis Presley)
And I Love Her (The Beatles)
(They Long To Be) Close To You (The Carpenters)
Besame Mucho
The Way You Look Tonight
First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (Roberta Flack)
Your Song (Elton John)
Some Enchanted Evening
And I Love You So (Don McLean)
Who Can I Turn To? (Tony Bennett)
Smile (Charlie Chaplin)
Mona Lisa (Nat King Cole)

(You can check out snippets here)

On his new album entitled Your Songs, Harry performs classic songs by some of the greatest musicians of all time, with a full jazz big band and string orchestra! He collaborated with the legendary Clive Davis, who has managed & guided the careers of so many fantastic musicians (Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson).

I first came across Harry's music back when The Mask came out, I loved the music so I bought the soundtrack, by far my favorite song on that CD was Harry's "Whisper Your Name"

I liked the smooth, jazz/big band feel he had.

Well he has a new CD out that has the same great jazz/big band feel Called "Your Songs"

I usually judge a CD as worth buying if I like at least like half the songs, and this one meets my criteria! I loved the covers of the Carpenters, Elton John and Billy Joel, may be some of the best of those covers I've heard.

However, Besame Mucho sounds completely wrong, not sure if it's the arrangement, or Harry, but it's a big no go on that track.

And it may just be me, being a die hard Elvis and Beatles fan, but sorry I think I'll stick with the Beatles and Elvis Original on "Can't help falling in love with you" and "And I love her"

Overall I give this CD a 7 out of 10, and would recommend as a great relaxation CD, for in the bath tub, or a cozy night with the significant other!
